The Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) certificated Major Incident Medical Management and Support (MIMMS) presents the nature and management of a major incident, focusing on how to deliver the medical support needed to multiple casualties.

As the only international standard in major incident medical management, the course is taught and the principles are practiced throughout the world, being integrated into both civilian and military medical practice.

Course Overview

The MIMMS course is designed for personnel who may require understanding and knowledge around the management of a major incident. The course is two-days in length, with an additional element of online learning prior to the start of the course. It can be delivered at your location if needed.

Course Objectives

The course objectives cover understanding organisations structures and roles in managing major incidents and how they work together. To be able to prepare for and implement a structured approach when responding to major incidents including (Command and Control, Safety, Communication , Assessment, Triage, Treatment, Transport (CSCATTT). And being able to deliver the medical support needed at major incidents, through triage, treatment and transport.

Assessment and Certification

MIMMS Course assessments take place online, prior to the course start, and on day two of the face-to-face element. Certification is issued by ALSG (Advanced Life Support Group) and is valid for four years.

General Information

The ALSG accredited MIMMS course provides essential skills for anyone involved in the planning of, or the response to, major incidents. There are no prerequisites to attending but is best suited to those from medical, paramedic or nursing backgrounds as well as those who are involved in event medical cover.

The MIMMS course includes approximately eight hours of e-learning and pre-course knowledge checks which must be completed prior to attending the face-to-face element. All information on how to access the e-learning will be included in the pre-course joining instructions. Ensure you have completed the pre-course MCQ prior to attendance on the course.
